Away from your shadow over me.
Edward Thomas

Over the last three years for one of his projects Mark has been weaving together the poetry of Edward Thomas and the Landscape of the South Downs, this developed during the residency at Winchester college in 2016. He has continued to make further links with the area and is now able to offer workshops for a wider audience.

The three days will be based in the South Downs national park with an experimental approach to developing work. A range of materials will be introduced with techniques that can inform everyone's practice. The days will begin and end with an honest, constructive look at the work produced with the intention of opening ways to develop further.

Level:
All skill levels, from beginners to those with more experience. A reasonable level of fitness is required as the workshops will include walking up to three miles during the day. The walk is broken up and the group will be stopping at different places to make work. Any concerns or doubts re: fitness and appropriateness, please ask.

What to bring:
All paint and materials are provided should you have anything specific you wish to bring please feel free to do so. Please bring sturdy walking books and waterproofs. The workshop is for experimentation and somewhere to find the edges for this reason old clothes are recommended.
