Weathering Private View
The exhibition opened on Friday evening at
The Great Atlantic Gallery
in Falmouth.
Weathering - Dartmoor Tors - Prometheus on his crag.
The author and poet Penelope Shuttle a contemporary and friend of Ted Hughes agreed to open the exhibition. Along with the gallery owner Michael Jay the exhibition and book were launched.

Mark Spray, Michael Jay and Penelope Shuttle.
Penelope's words cut straight to the heart of the project, leaving me speechless, heart felt thank you. The final poem from Ted Hughes collection which inspired the project formed part of the opening.
Ted Hughes - Prometheus on his crag
21
His mother covers her eyes.
The mountain splits its sweetness.
The blue fig splits its magma.
And the cry bulges.
And the veiny mire
Bubbles scalded.
The mountain is uttering
Blood and again blood.
Puddled, blotched newsprint.
With crocus evangels.
The mountain is flowering
A gleaming man.
And the cloudy bird
Tearing the shell
Midwifes the upfalling crib of flames.
And Prometheus eases free.
He sways to his stature.
And balances. And treads
On the dusty peacock film where the world floats.
The exhibition continues until 7th October 2009.
The signed limited edition book is now available from the gallery.
Many thanks to all who attended the private view, great night!
Special thank you to Penelope Shuttle all at The Great Atlantic Gallery and the close friends, family who helped make this project possible.
Many Thanks
Mark.
