Currently my work has developed into two separate but interwoven elements, titled "Strata" and "Moorland" the series compliment each other and encompass the extremes of environment found here in penwith. The "Strata" series closed and sheltered, the "Moorland" paintings, expansive, exposed. "Strata” inspired by my interest in geology, the layers of the earth’s crust descending unremittingly seaward , the coastline in crossection with its strata layers of rock and soil, a rich tapestry of texture and colour, hopeful and yet a darker sense of erosion, foreboding and inevitability pervades. "Moorland" ,the moors perhaps most eloquently described as :
"a stage for the performance of heaven "where " any audience is incidental" (Ted Hughes)
